Our tutor, Astrid Cheney, the “math-magician,” works one-on-one with lively games and activities to help early elementary students develop solid foundational math concepts and skills. A long-term master teacher for Oakland Public Schools, Astrid has a Ph.D. in math from her native Germany, and a Master’s of Education from UC Berkeley. Astrid’s tutoring is high-energy, fun-loving, and remarkably effective in helping kids understand operations on numbers and to love what they’re doing at the same time.
